Best day is a day in the gym (So everyday)

I knew it was one of the best days of my life. It was nearly two years ago; I don’t remember the exact date, but I remember the moment so well… I was eating ice cream, having just left a job that made me genuinely happy, where I could do what I loved professionally. Somehow, it let me relax, take time for myself. I got back to the house I shared with two roommates—both women, but we all had this great mutual respect. After a quick hot shower to get ready to go out and grab something for dinner, I’d ordered some simple weed (we called it *la de cerro*, nothing fancy) and a burger from this local spot—amazing flavor. Before that, I picked up the ice cream in the Thursday deal, just me there, enjoying that combination I loved so much.

I was planning to stop by the store later to grab a bag of chips, you know, imagining myself back home, eating, playing some video games, and smoking a bit. My family was in another city, so I had a bit of freedom, and my roommates respected that space too. All my family was healthy, and I’d hear from my parents and sister often. I even had this dog, a chocolate-colored cocker spaniel who was practically my roommate too—always so happy to see me when I got home, always ready for a night walk and those long talks, just him and me, out on the lonely but at least safe streets at night. That’s what made me realize it was one of those days. Everything was right at that moment, and maybe what sticks with me most about it, what made it feel like a perfect day, was knowing I didn’t owe a thing.

Thanks for the dynamic—it brought back a great memory.
