Occasionally places will ask for a serial number on the packaging of the product you brought that was expired, here's where I learnt the hard way If you take a can of red bull out of the fridge and give them that serial number they know it was an individually packaged can and will replace it with probably 2x cans. 

However if you come prepared with a serial number off a multi pack they will replace the whole multi pack Idk the details beyond that it's just my personal experience.
