Yes, you have to put the tags around the text to do it and then put [;/hide] where u want it to stop hiding content. But yes, they will need to reply to see it.

You do not need to do it for every line. Did you remove the ; from the hide tags?
I just found the hide content button look for the Lock Icon https://imgur.com/a/BUr2wTa what I circled
