I grew up with little to no finance tips or help -

Don't buy shit on sale.  You end up buying stuff you don't need.  Just wait until you need it to buy it.  Also, trick yourself if you need to by putting it in an account you can't access easily.

Try new things and take more risks if you're still young, like say a small start-up or try investments in yourself or in assets that can generate you money. Money sitting in stocks is better than just sitting in your bank.

Since I started to earn money I adapted theese so far: 

Pay your mandatory bills as soon as you receive paycheck
Do not buy pointless shit like TVs, phones etc. on credit 
Save at least 10% of your monthly income 
When something is on sale, go and check elswere if it isnt just at normal price everyone else is selling it

I would definetly use some advice where to invest money tho.,
