Hi brother. Hungary is nice and also cheap. Balaton lake is expensive and is not that good, Cyprus is maybe cheaper, but Croatia for sure. If you want to visit Stephens Basilica then you can visit many other places at Budapest, https://www.thecrazytourist.com/25-best-...-budapest/ You can also check Balaton lake with train, its like 1 max 2 hours from Budapest to go there.
I kinda recommend to visit Budapest at august 20 because of national events and firework. But some markets will be closed that day.

For travelling in Budapest I do recommend check:
Mol limo for car renting,
Budapest GO for tram and bus
or Lime for e-scooters
we dont have uber, just taxi which is expensive.
The airport can be approached only via bus, ticket is like 3 eur.
