That is why I suggest please... enable the private chat option in the general chat

How would you know if the person is even available in shoutbox? If they are available, couldn't you just use whisper messages with the current functionality?
Is it supposed to keep a history of all private communications, and notify you of new messages? If so, what would be the purpose of having our current PM system?

For just sending a simple message it doesn't really take any more time. It's just that you have to refresh the page to be notified of any new messages. For buying and selling, with PM's you get a more formal history that can be referenced later on if needed. In SB, you only get that if you happened to take screenshots of everything.

Not sure if it's possible, but could we maybe change our alert system to use WebSockets / WSS to receive notifications in real time w/o refreshing the page? Seems like it would be beneficial in many scenarios, including PM communications.

yes that is a lot better, cause its annoying when you forget to refresh and you think they haven't messages back but they did, especially when your in sb a lot of time goes by.
