Hacking - you make bad things to individuals
Cracking - you make bad things to the entrepreneur It's my personal opinion ![]()

Hacking can be either white hat, grey / gray hat or black hat.
White hat means that you're hacking for a security checks, usually done by people who are looking for an improvement in their security sector. Grey / gray hat is something marginally black hat, but noone can pin stuff you do "onto you". Meaning, you do stuff that are useful, and helpful but not on the convenient way, e.g. using social engineering in process of obtaining information to help someone would be considered gray / grey hat hacking. Black hat is the mother of everything that is considered bad and fuel to many TV shows and movies. Examples of black hat would be RATs (Remote Administration Tools; taking over control of someone's PC), hacking accounts for your own profit (not security based, you just WANT / NEED to have / sell those accounts) etc. Cracking is usually program based, where you crack a certain program and you make him work without a license. |
