I think Putin's not stupid enough to invade. He will keep rallying up troops at the border in an attempt to sway Ukraine into some sort of one-sided agreement, because he knows a full on invasion would spark way too many non-allies into a rebuttal.

However, if he chooses to invade, I think it will come down to how many resources he's willing to give up to win. Stretch them too thin and a loss would put them in irreparable debt (think Germany after WW2). But they certainly have the manpower to win if they can scramble enough neighboring allies in time. Whether or not that happens, only time will tell.

War is would be costly for both sides if Russia really invades Ukraine, and while U.S and Russia are at war, I wouldn't be surprised if China is making moves behind to dethrone the dollar and replace it with the yuan as the world's reserve currency. they had done on how oils are traded some are traded in petroyuan some in dollars. (they literally created the petroyuan/petrodollar to compete with the U.S Dollar.)

Right now Russia show deterrence like sending tanks on the border and such so that either to really preparing for an invasion or to negotiate just like the S.A.L.T talks 

I really hope that they would come to an agreement. as the two are nuclear superpowers that would send the world into a nuclear winter if they chose to.
