It very much so depends on what information you have available to you, and how you go about interacting with them.
Covid has in someways made this easier and harder.
A good place to start is just to go to your local bank websites or call from a private number and ask what's all needed to set up different type of accounts. Alot of banks let you open checking accounts online. But see what information they all need and cross that with what you have available.
Once you get one open its very much so possible with facemasks being standard and courier services being available to people (along with having some friends) actual interaction face to face with the bank can be minimal. If played right, not at all.
It depends on a lot of factors and patience is a big one. Keep trying but be smart about it.
Best of luck!
