does the banning happen because of this so called "Leeching = not leaving a like"?

Nah that's just what thread posters do to grab easy likes. Leeching means replying to unlock content without giving any content back (so for example all you do on the forum is reply to threads in order to unlock content, but don't post anything yourself). 

Directly from the Help Docs:

What is a leecher?
A leech is defined as someone who registers on Cracked.io solely for the purpose of taking content with no intent to contribute.
