Scams happen. A lot. Here’s a quick checklist to keep yourself safe, and to make sure you’ve got solid proof if things go wrong.
1. Record the Chat
Scammers love deleting messages. When the deal is about to go down, hit record. Scroll through the entire conversation (up and down) so everything is visible. Keep that video, even if the trade goes fine, you never know.
2. Use a Middleman
Yeah, middlemen aren’t as common now, but a trusted one can save you. Better safe than sorry.
3. Check Their Forum History
Look at on-forum reputation, vouches, and past threads. Don’t care about off-site claims. Even high-rep users can scam, but this check can raise or lower your suspicion.
4. Avoid Slow Sellers
If they take days to answer before money changes hands, expect the same (or worse) if you need support.
5. Read the TOS Carefully
If you see “no guarantee” or anything similar, avoid it. Even if Marketplace Rule #12 can help you, why gamble on something that might not work?
6. Watch Out for Impersonators
Anyone can fake being someone else. ALWAYS confirm identity via forum PMs. Then double-check you’re not being funneled into a third-party scam, see this thread: https://cracked.sh/Thread-Staff-ALERT-BE...ARTY-SCAMS

If something feels off, it probably is.
