The contractor refuses to use a secure middleman for the transaction. They take access to your account and then demand payment after a supposedly “successful refund.” But screenshots can be faked, and websites can be easily edited using basic HTML tricks. Scammers like this often provide fake proof and then pressure you to pay — threatening to cancel the refund or block your account if you refuse. This kind of fraud is common in the community. Never trust indirect evidence. You can only be sure a refund was successful when you see the money in your account or log in and confirm it yourself.
