I do IT work for over a hundred businesses of a certain type. State law requires them to use a "digital record keeping" software and report all transactions to a law enforcement database and to Department of Public Safety...
I cant afford to pay you for the work, but I have several businesses asking me to create a new software. Id like to give you half of all sales for 5 years - Im negotiable.
There are about 20 competitors in this software industry, and the average prices for the software is between 1600 yearly subscription based or 10-40K USD to buy it outright.
I have an older program that is currently being used by quite a few of these businesses, but new laws have come out and the software needs a few more features. I am NOT a developer, but I have basic programming skills in VB and C. What I would like to do is create a stripped down re branded version of a competitors software, or "fix" the software I have. The software is simple in theory, but theres alot going on under the hood..
This will be a database software - preferably SQL - on windows machines. I would like to have only the front end installed on the end users computers, and the back end hosted locally on same LAN. It will be used in a multi-user environment. It will need to have detailed reports, and a few other requirements. This is a large project, 3 to 6 months of coding i think? Depends on your skill level.
You MUST be comfortable working with hardware device manufacturer SDKs. All devices have an SDK, excellent documentation, and sample code/exe files for reference.
All businesses use the same hardware devices that need direct use inside the application:
1) Snapshell ID scanner
2) Topaz signature pad / fingerprint reader combo
3) Multiple IP cameras for image capture only
4) Thermal printer for reciepts
5) Laser printer for reports, etc
Let me know if youre interested. Ill drop a book in your inbox with full details and examples.
I have access to both the new software id like to clone and the old software if it can be reverse engineered / fixed. I can get you copies of both for lab use...the one id like to strip/ clone is a trial though. Thanks for your time!
