You want a strong antivirus, not some avast, norton, AVG shit.
Get something bang for your buck like maybe malwarebytes or kaspersky, if you choose malwarebytes consider using a trial reseter for long lasting premium!
If you are doing some sketchy stuff, use a nice VPN like a residential one (Tuxler) or a simple one (Mullvad)
Don't run random shit! Use https://tria.ge/ https://antiscan.me and https://virustotal.com (for VT preferably check behaviour)
If you are really sketched out about download something lets say pirated, refer to FMHY and the Piracy Megathread.
Also do a quick scan with Hitman Pro Alert and your chosen antivirus, if you're in grave danger reset your pc.
