In which MMO do you think side professions are the most meaningful?

Was leveling leathersmithing on my rogue in WoW and I feel like most of the gear I can craft is worse than the gear im getting for questing etc. and there's not exactly a market to sell it either.
 
That got me to thinking, which MMO do you guys think side professions are the most meaningful to your leveling and economical experience?

Didn't they try to make profs more useful in Dragon Flight? I think the weapons can be upgraded multiple times, although it's been a while since I tried it in season 1.
