So at first I would like to thank you at least for reading this. If you got any idea how to fix the following problem, please comment it. No trolling please, I know Im a dickhead.

So about a week ago, me and my friends got a nice idea at school that we could delete some of the local schools server's content using a school PC that is connected to the schools network (for example graphic design presets and shit like this). Today a school principal came to visit my class and he told us, that he knows that someone from our class deleted the local server content and that such action could be punished with expelling from school and asked, who did this. Of course noone confessed so he told us, that he already knows that the files were deleted at time when our class was on PCs and its only a question of time when the IT department finds out from which PC the files were deleted. Our school keeps noted our seats at the PCs so if they find this, Im done. What should I tell them if they find out? Please help a random idiot from high school

I'll give you a decent excuse but I would not suggest you use it as I'm pretty sure that they already knew who did it. If they know what class it was then they definitely already know which user did it (Assuming each student is assigned a unique UserID).

Given that you know how to access the schools servers I'd assume that you're a teenager so not completely dumb but still prone to stupid mistakes. The best chance you have at surviving this would be the stupidity card. Say that it was you and that it was an accident. You wanted to use some of the schools graphical assets but you could not directly copy paste onto your computer (say you were working on a project / document or anything that would have given you a reason to use the schools logo or assets). So you, DUMBASS that you are, decided to copy paste from the servers to your computer, but since you are a dumb shit you decided to CUT and PASTE instead of COPY and PASTE. Say that you usually use CUT and PASTE instead of COPY and paste so you are used to it. Dont bring your friends into this, it would only make things more complicated. After CUTTING and PASTING onto the computer you tried to CUT and PASTE back. You waited for the files to get back into the server but nothing happened. Noticing that the files are gone and that you might be in big trouble you panic and shutdown the computer.

If you are asked why you didn't confess in the classroom say that you were afraid (be very honest, show emotions, fucking tear up abit or cry if you need to). You will get a mouthful from the principal. You will take it like a man and learn from your mistakes. Deeply apologies to him. If things go south and you are being threatened for expulsion you should cry. Hard. Cry hard and beg. Keep repeating it was an accident and that you will do anything to fix it. ("Insert sex joke here"). 

Im also assuming that your school does not have a lot of cameras, otherwise this shit would not work.

Remember. For a solid excuse you want less people involved and SINCERE emotion. Otherwise, ur fucked.

Im no expert on manipulating people so some SE'rs could probably come up with something better or add to what I said.

Be SINCERE in your guilt, I mean this. Just acting dumb and SE'ing will only get you so far. Its a psychological thing. People become more lenient towards someone who is desperate. If your principal is a piece of shit and gets a "Power Trip" out of it then he will push you with questions, though I doubt it and I would suspect that hes a decent human being.

If he does ask you alot of questions keep it simple. It is difficult to both argue and question a stupid person, even more difficult if it is an emotional and stupid person. 

Your tears are your mask, from which you observe, stutter and mumble to give you more time to think. Play your cards right.
