Ideal Computer Specs for cracking/"checking'?

Couldn't find any topics discussing this. Is cracking all processor based or gpu based as well? Does your VRAM matter in your graphics card? Looking to upgrade my rig for  best preformance possible. Yes I am aware speed is determined by each config and the way its written but what is optimal specs for the best cracking rig? Thank you very much forum!

PS: looking for Ulta,Cracker barrel, Panda Express, starbucks, and hooters configg, hmu ;)

"Cracking" as in checking combos is 100% CPU and network based. Good internet and good single threaded (Intel, high clock speeds) is all that matters. If you're brute forcing you need a good GPU for hashcat. But doesn't sound like you are. 

Tbh you can crack on a shitty laptop just fine usually.

Dawg thank you very much. Is there a lmit on how much clockspeed is enough? Like for example I got a overclocked i7 already. Just curious if it'd be worth it upgrading to say a new AMD chip or like a i9 thx man. Is there "good enough" speeds that don't make uograding worth doing? Just curious where it caps out at. Like rn my i5 surface pro 3 maxes out at 100% cpu aha

I mean I'm not an expert at checking it's not my thing, but I'd say an overclocked I7 is plenty not much reason to go above that. I mean, how many threads are you using? If you're trying to use 5000 threads with 6 different OB configs then yeah get a 6 or 8 core AMD chip. But if not, I7 is good.
