I do apologize for the very vague and ambiguous question, I just do not know how to concisely ask my question in simply the title.
What am I asking? I've always been into the numbers behind videogames, especially like the health and attack power of enemies, and level scaling of players and etc. But Videogames have a tendency to be vague about these concepts to players and hide their information well. Instead of using actual numbers, lots of games use arbitrary bars that simply deplete or fill when such and such happen--no concrete numbers. I understand why some games opt to due this rather than spitting out numbers at every corner (especially decimals), but I still yearn for deeper understanding.
Some examples of what I mean/looking for: Monster Hunter World does have damage numbers, but despite this, trying to find out the precise amount of health any particular Monster has has it's own frustrations. Or wanting to know the exact damage output and health of the Elites in Halo: Combat Evolved or the Fallen Captains in Destiny. As you might see, I have a particular thing for health of enemies and such in many games.
So...is there any way to look at maybe the game files or something for this information? If so, how would one go about this? Would this be considered data mining? Is there anything unethical about looking deeper into game files for this? Is there a much better way to phrase these questions of mine and the title that has currently escaped me?
Thanks for taking your time to read a maybe respond. I look forward to any information that can lead me forward to understanding my favorite videogames more.https://discord.software/ fetlife vshare
