Career change tips

I am currently looking for a career change from marketing to something in the IT business. 

I am studying cloud computing and as soon as I'll get a certification or two, I was thinking to move on to python or some general language to get used to it. 

Do you guys have any advice, tips or whatever? I am pretty basic at it, so really anything might be usefull

master one skill at a time and then get solid in cloud computing, then learn Python to automate and build projects that showcase your skills.
