This might seem like an extremely dumb question to some of you but I can't really seem to find much about it. I am aware of what Blackhat and Whitehat mean but I am more curious to the penalties of being caught participating in a Blackhat method or something of that sort? Or the odds of being caught better yet. I am an extremely cautious but also very paranoid person so just having the knowledge and the wrongs, rights, and the punishment for those wrongs along with the likelihood would put my mind at ease. (This came about when I was debating buying some e-books from here that I am interested in getting into but what to cover my ass before anything)

Every country has its own approach to the law and its own way to investigate and prosecute cyber crimes, consequences depend on your country and your case specifically.
The general rule of thumb is as long as you don't make too much noise, the chance of being even noticed by any law enforcement agency is slim to none.
I wouldn't suggest you to blindly buy e-books unless you already have a clear idea and you can make your money back easily.

I appreciate it, and yeah I wasn't just gonna go willy nilly lmfao. I was just looking for something in particular to get into but at the same time allows me to make more than some minimum wage job. I won't invest without considerably greater odds of me making my money back but I figure if I do invest in multiple different areas I'm gonna have good and shitty ones regardless. Right now I am just getting a general idea of everything for myself.
